Local Law 158: Double Penalties for Work without Permit Violations

Double civil penalties for work without permit violations

Any building that receives a work without a permit violation is subject to double the civil penalties for subsequent violations within a year of the most recent.

Exceptions

1. You can prove that the prior work without a permit was conducted by a prior owner.

2. You can prove that the prior work without a permit was conducted in a part of the building owned by someone else.

To apply for a waiver Submit a L2 form and choose NRV (no relationship to violation) or BFP (bona fide purchaser).
